About the Artist & Founder: Jordan Kempain

Jordan Kempain is a professional illustrator and the founder of Kempain Family Outfitters. Operating out of his studio in Putnam, Connecticut, Jordan draws on over 15 years of experience to create authentic outdoor artwork. A graduate of the University of Hartford’s Art School with a background in visual communication and illustration, his work ranges from technical pen-and-ink and graphic design, to publishing, including his roles as the illustrator for children’s books like Naughty, Cira and Mike and the Magic Marble.

Beyond his creative work, Jordan is a lifelong New England outdoorsman. His time spent hunting, fishing, and hiking through the local woods and waters directly informs the spirit of every sketch. He lives in eastern Connecticut with his wife, Sarah, and their son, Stephen.

Jordan is committed to original artwork, material intentionality, and minimizing waste. Every design begins with original, hand-drawn artwork, bringing a distinctly human touch and individuality to every Kempain Original. He prioritizes thoughtfully selected materials, including natural fibers in apparel, to reduce synthetic fabrics that contribute to microplastic pollution. Jordan's mission is to create meaningful, lasting products while avoiding unnecessary overproduction and waste.
